Our Events – Environmentally Friendly by Design
Events almost always leave traces – through energy consumption, travel, or the use of materials. For us, it is important to keep these impacts as minimal as possible. That is why, already in the planning phase of the KIT Science Week, we deliberately opted for environmentally friendly solutions and aligned our implementation with the sustainability guidelines of the State of Baden-Württemberg’s “Green Event BW” strategy. With this, we want to show: inspiring events and responsible use of resources are inseparably linked for us.
In the areas of climate protection, material and waste management, social responsibility and regional impact, as well as catering, we have implemented the following measures of the “Green Event BW” label (excerpt):
-
Raising awareness and informing all participants, as well as encouraging their active involvement in implementing the individual measures.
-
The venue is easily accessible by public transport.
-
Energy-saving measures are reviewed and implemented where possible.
-
Environmental criteria are checked and, where possible, taken into account in procurement processes.
-
Regional companies are given preference as suppliers/service providers.
-
Gender mainstreaming and diversity are considered in organization and program design.
-
If alcoholic beverages are offered, attractive alcohol-free alternatives are also provided.
-
Vegetarian catering.
-
Waste separation.
