How can cities become places where everyone can live well? The KIT Science Week 2025 focuses on the city as a shared living space. Urban researcher Professor Sabine Knierbein (TU Vienna) will kick off the event with a keynote speech on urban communities and why co-design and participation play a central role in this.

Afterwards, Nicole Razavi MdL (Minister for State Development and Housing Baden-Württemberg), Dr. Frank Mentrup (Lord Mayor of Karlsruhe) and Professor Barbara Engel (KIT) will also discuss how we can make cities vibrant, fair and sustainable.

Join us for a festive reception to celebrate the opening of KIT Science Week!

At the accompanying “Market of Opportunities” (open from 6 PM), you can discover projects from urban research, architecture, sustainable building, mobility and urban nature.

The event is barrier-free; there is a translation into sign language and a live translation into English. The event will also be available via livestream at: https://kit-science-week.de/
