This workshop explores how cities can redesign and restore their water bodies to support both human wellbeing and biodiversity. Together, participants will discuss practical solutions for balancing ecological functions with urban needs,
creating healthier and more resilient urban environments.
 
Target Audience:
Master students that are interested in urban planning, landscape architects, hydrologists and anyone engaged in shaping the future ofurban environments. It welcomes both academics and Practitioners who are passionate about integrating ecological thinking into city design

Interdisciplinary Exchange: Connect with experts across fields to explore how cities can be transformed through ecological restoration and climate-resilient design. How can we build more sustainably? And what does sustainable building actually mean? During the guided tour of the RoofKIT building, you will discover how new living spaces are created using recycled and renewable materials. You will learn how the KIT team won the international “Solar Decathlon Europe” competition and what sustainable architecture has to do with the climate, energy and our coexistence. Come along and experience what building in the city of the future can really look like!

Urban nature of the future: exploring change in the mobile participation lab - MobiLab station at Friedrichsplatz

MobiLab am Friedrichsplatz, Friedrichsplatz, Erbprinzenstraße, 76133 Karlsruhe

What will the green city of the future look like? At the MobiLab on Friedrichsplatz, you can playfully explore what plants, animals and ecosystems contribute to city life. You will compete against a robot to find insects, explore the city from an animal perspective and redesign the city's squares with us. There will also be information, advice, a climate quiz - and plenty of opportunity to have your say, try things out and rethink.

How do you bring the sun to earth? In this guided tour, you will find out what materials are needed to harness energy through nuclear fusion. You will visit the Fusion Materials Laboratory on KIT's North Campus and gain exclusive insights into research laboratories, high-tech testing facilities and current projects. An exciting look into the materials science of the energy future - for anyone who is curious about tomorrow.

Was hat es mit dem Stephaniebrunnen auf sich? An wen erinnert die kleine Marktfrau? Warum heißt das Fichte-Gymnasium nicht Kettlerschule? Beim Soundwalk „Whose Stories“ machst du dich auf die Suche nach sichtbaren und verborgenen Spuren von Frauen*-Perspektiven in Karlsruhe. Du hörst Erzählungen aus Geschichte, Kunst und Gesellschaft, entdeckst vertraute Orte neu und erfährst, was das mit deinem Leben heute zu tun hat. Die Führung lädt dazu ein, über Erinnerung und Stadtgeschichte nachzudenken.
 
Die Veranstaltung ist barrierefrei zugänglich.
